The Brea Unified School District is one of the smaller school districts in North Orange County but has an excelled reputation with many of the schools receiving the California Distinguished School awards and the National Blue Ribbon awards. There are six elementary schools: Mariposa, Fanning, Laurel, Olinda, Arovista and Country Hills; as well as one Junior High and one High School. California schools have an open enrollment policy which means your child can attend any school in the district (called intradistrict), as long as there is space. The “Great Schools” rating is a simple tool for parents to compare the schools based on test scores. We advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child’s and family’s needs as part of the school selection process. Overall, Brea is know for its great schools.
